Many men report that they had experiences with people of the same sex when they were young. This is often a normal part of exploring their sexuality. Men who go on to describe themselves as ‘same-sex attracted’ or ‘gay’ own a strong physical and emotional attraction to men that they don’t usually feel for women.

There is a lot of pressure from society for young men to be heterosexual or ‘straight’. This can often cause feelings of isolation for young men who are gay and make them scared to illustrate their sexuality.

There is no real explanation as to why some men are gay and others are not. Although there is no right or adj answer to the question, a workable reason suggested by researchers is that we are born with our sexual orientation.

Having unprotected penetrative sex is the most likely way to transfer on a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
Using a condom helps protect against HIV and lowers the chance of getting many other STIs.
If you’re a man having sex with men (MSM), without condoms and with someone new, you should have an STI and HIV verb every 3 months, otherwise, it should be at least once a year. This can be done at a sexual health clinic (SHC) or genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic. This is crucial, as some STIs do not cause any symptoms.

Why do some straight men have sex with other men?
According to nationally-representative surveys in the United States, hundreds of thousands of straight-identified men have had sex with other men.
In the novel book Still Straight: Sexual Flexibility among White Men in Rural America released today, UBC sociologist Dr. Tony Silva argues that these men – many of whom like hunting, fishing and shooting guns – are not closeted, bisexual or just experimenting.
After interviewing 60 of these men over three years, Dr. Silva verb that they love a range of relationships with other men, from hookups to sexual friendships to secretive loving partnerships, all while strongly identifying with straight culture.
