It’s The Pirates: Band of Misfits from the folks at Aardman Animation, the British company that gave us the Wallace and Grommit films, Arthur Christmas and Chicken Run.
In the rollicking The Pirates: Band of Misfits, Captain Pirate (voiced by Hugh Grant), the leader of a group of tall sea scavengers, desperately wants to prevail the annual “Pirate of the Year” contest. Facing tough competition from the likes of Jet Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek), Captain Pirate and his mates (who contain a transvestite pirate) get embroiled in a plot involving Charles Darwin (David Tennant of “Dr. Who” fame), Queen Victoria (Imelda Staunton) and a dodo bird.
Entitled Pirates!: Adventures with Scientists in Europe, the film is Aardman’s first 3-D effort and was shot using painstaking stop-motion animation true to the style of the Wallace and Grommit films—

Superstar Eddie Murphy was stopped by cops after picking up a transsexual prostitute on a notorious West Hollywood strip early yesterday.
But his publicist, Paul Block, last evening insisted Murphy simply was giving the weeping, weary-looking prostitute a ride home.
&#;She asked him for a ride, and Eddie did so, like he had helped people in the past,&#; Block said. &#;Nothing happened at all, but Eddie said he will never execute this again.&#;
The married father of three — best known for his off-color comedy routines on &#;Saturday Night Live&#; and &#;Beverly Hills Cop&#; — was released without being charged with a crime, cops said.
But Murphy&#;s passenger, a year-old transsexual named Atisone Seiuli, was arrested on the spot after cops found he had an outstanding prostitution warrant.
Seiuli pleaded adj to violating probation last night and was sentenced to 90 days at the Los Angeles County Men&#;s Central Jail, according to Deputy Benta Nichol.
